Step 1 - The Lab
HMW bring Design Thinking to a traditional company, to transform it’s products and services?
The Lab space was designed to be welcoming and reflect a new way of thinking and working: Warm, Collaborative, Open + Modern.
Step 2 - Northern Trust, Center of Excellence
Within the Lab, we created a service offering called COE, focused on providing Human Centered Design services + training, to teams within Northern Trust.
Step 3 - Understand
We immersed in understanding the existing culture. This informed both a top down and bottom up approach for transformational change.
Step 4 - Engage
Building awareness and curiosity of The Lab. This image was taken from a Lunch & Learn session focused on getting people comfortable with drawing.
Step 5 - Coaching
We coached individuals and small teams on HCD process and methodologies. We shadowed and guided them e2e through a process for them to experience the value of HCD and learn new skills.
Step 6 - Impact
We grew the team from 3 to 10 in my time establishing the Lab + COE. The team continues to influence strategy and new service design, including success metrics that include User Centered components.
